Police crack LIC agent murder, arrest 4

LUCKNOW: Police claimed to have solved the Madhuri murder case with the arrest of four on Monday. LIC agent Madhuri , was found dead in her house with her body hanging from the grille of the ventilator on Friday.
Those arrested have been identified as Ajay Kumar Jaiswal of Cantonment police station area, Anjani Sahu and Harish Kumar Yadav, both of PGI area and Geeta Yadav, an ASHA bahu.
Their leader Atma Prakash Mishra of Gosainganj is on the run. Mishra is a hardcore robber while Jaiswal has been to jail for theft. Geeta Yadav was acquainted with the deceased woman. Cops recovered looted jewellery and the victim’s cellphone besides an e-rickshaw which the criminals used to commute to and from the victim’s house.
On Monday, the miscreants confessed to their crime. Giving details, Lucknow SSP Manzil Saini said that Madhuri got in touch with Geeta because of her line of work as an insurance agent. During one of her visits, Geeta came to know that Madhuri had cash and jewellery and she went on to alert her accomplices to the same. On the day of the crime, April 14 noon, the group reached Madhuri’s house posing as customers but soon enough, they had overpowered her. Mishra and Harish tied a stole around the victim’s throat and choked her to death. After collecting the booty, they hanged Madhuri’s body from the grille and fled.
SSP Saini SSP said police cracked the case with the help of the surveillance cell. “The sleuths obtained the call detail record of victim’s cellphone and traced the people who had called her on April 13 and April 14. Since Geeta had Madhuri’s phone in her possession, police nabbed her first and then her aides,” she said.
