LUCKNOW: An inter-state gang involved in issuing fake marksheets of UP Board exams was busted by the city police after the arrest of two of its members and recovery of packets of blank marksheets and some forged ones.
Superintendent of Police (SP) West SC Bajpayee, who spearheaded the operation, told Times News Network (TNN) that acting on specific tip-off, the police sent a decoy to contact Ajay Soni of Nawazganj in Thakurganj and Ram Babu Trivedi of Malapuram.
The decoy sought a fake intermediate exam marksheet of UP Board and the two allegedly agreed to provide him the same for a premium. When the two accused met the decoy at a pre-notified place, they were arrested by the Saadatganj police while handing over the fake marksheet.
Ajay and Ram Babu told the police during interrogation that the gang was spread over three districts of UP, including Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad and also had contact persons in adjoining states.
The gang would eye for youths planning to go abroad for job, specially to the middle-east, and charge from them hefty amounts to provide desired marksheets. As a complimentary service, the gang also ensured admission to clients in respective colleges.
