Police arrest gambler murderer

Police on Tuesday arrested Shivakant Shukla for the murder of 28-year-old Rakesh Jaiswal in Bazarkhala on November 8. Upon arrest, Shivakant told police that Jaiswal was involved in betting in cricket matches and stock exchange and had borrowed Rs 35,000 from him a few days ago.

LUCKNOW: Police on Tuesday arrested Shivakant Shukla for the murder of 28-year-old Rakesh Jaiswal in Bazarkhala on November 8. Upon arrest, Shivakant told police that Jaiswal was involved in betting in cricket matches and stock exchange and had borrowed Rs 35,000 from him a few days ago.
Jaiswal had reportedly promised to pay back the money on Diwali but when Sivakant reminded him to do so, he refused to do so.

On November 8, Shivakant claimed, Jaiswal asked to meet him at a tea stall in Aishbagh. Shivakant went with two of his relatives, Gyan Mishra and Annu. Soon after, they had an altercation over the loan and Shivakant threatened to shoot him with his licensed revolver. Fearing for his life, Jaiswal tried to snatch the revolver when Shivakant reportedly pushed him away and fired six rounds at Rakesh before fleeing the spot.
