Lucknow: Vijay Kumar Yadav, a judoka from Varanasi, brought honour to Uttar Pradesh by winning a bronze medal in the men’s 60 kg category.

Vijay’s father, Dashrath Yadav, said: “Vijay has won the country’s heart.

He never gives up and always works hard. We have seen many problems but now I hope that he has a bright future,” he said, thanking the CEO of UP Judo Association chairman Munawar Anzar.
Vijay’s mother Chinta Devi said, “I always used to tell him not to feel let down by failures and make every defeat a stepping stone for victory.”
His brother Raju Yadav, who is a soldier in the army, said, “I was a bit nervous about Vijay’s match. It is a matter of great happiness that he has won a medal for the country,” he said.
