LUCKNOW: Forty-nine paintings made in oil and water-based mediums by noted painter Nirupama Tank, an executive member of National Lalit Kala Akademi in Delhi, are on display at Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre.

Divided in four major categories -- Ramayana, the works based on Kalidas' literary pieces, still life and realistic work -- the paintings are made in Saurashtra folk art form.

Sponsored by Gujarat Lalit Kala Akademi, the exhibition was inaugurated on Tuesday and will remain open till August 28 from 11 am to 7.30 pm. Some of her much-acclaimed works that have featured in several magazines in Gujarat, are part of the exhibition.

Tank, a painter of national and international repute, has received several awards, including the prestigious Kalidasa Award, twice. "I had keen interest in fine arts since my childhood. But motivation by my husband helped me to excel in the field," she told TOI.
