LUCKNOW: Dr Shabista Khan's eyes turn moist every time she starts to talk about her husband, Dr Kafeel Khan and the fateful August night last year.
"I stopped him several times that night when he was going to BRD Medical College. He had taken a leave that day due to exertion and his heart condition," said Shabista.
After eight long months, the family heaved a sigh of relief on Wednesday afternoon when at around 3pm they were intimated about Kafeel being granted bail by Allahabad high court.
There were smiles on all faces as lips moved to thankd Allah.
"We always had faith in judiciary and our faith has been reaffirmed. We feared losing him due to his failing health," said Shabista.
The family members offered namaz-e-shukrana after the bail order.
Kafeel's brother-in-law,
Samar Khan said, "Is he being punished for saving lives? Because he helped dying children with oxygen supply? He was a lecturer, on the junior most level. He was not involved in the purchase or tender of oxygen supply but he helped when there was no supply. If this is the situation, I won't recommend anyone to let their children become doctors, especially in Uttar Pradesh."
Kafeel's sister
Zeenat Khan said, "Bhaiya had a heart attack in March. He was not keeping well. When he told us about what was happening at BRD medical college that night, we were all worried for him. He was under a lot of stress and concern for the children. When he was able to manage the oxygen cylinders, we were all proud."
