Lucknow: A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly looting Rs 4 lakh cash from a nursery owner in a moving car on Sitapur road on Wednesday.
Accused Ritesh Bharadwaj alias Sachin was arrested from Dubagga area while two of his aides managed to escape from the police dragnet. Sachin has nine criminal cases, including one under Gangster Act, lodged against him across the state.
Sharing the modus operandi of the gang, Dubagga police station SHO Sukhveer Singh Bhadouria informed that the looters used to wait near the highway pretending as if they were running a taxi between the two cities. Victim Rahat Ali, on September 12, boarded their car. The accused took Ali to a secluded place, snatched Rs 4 lakh cash from him and thrashed him before throwing him out of the vehicle on Sitapur road.
Bhadouria said after scanning CCTV footage, police got the registration number of the vehicle.
