LUCKNOW: The National Security Guards (NSG) conducted a simulated Counter Terrorist Contingency Mock Drill at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) in Lucknow early on Thursday.


As part of the drill, the NSG disposed of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) on the landside and hostage mock rescue inside Terminal-2 of the airport.

The simulated drill was organized to check the preparedness of various agencies in case of an emergency at the airport. As part of the mock drill, a special corridor was created for the NSG to reach the airport.

Gandiv-5 exercise focused on mock passenger rescue in a simulated environment from Terminal-2 of the airport and as well as disposal of VBIED within the airport premises.

Commenting on the mock-drill, a CCSIA spokesperson said, “Lucknow International Airport prioritizes the safety, security and wellbeing of our passengers and teams always. All support sought by the central agencies for the exercise at the airport was extended for successful training. Personnel from NSG, CISF, UP-ATS, UP Police, district administration, SDRF, airlines, AAI, doctors, paramedical staff, ambulances, officials from airport security and Lucknow airport participated in the counter terrorist contingency mock drill."

"The mock drill was conducted between 2am and 5.45am. The teams of Lucknow airport ensured that there was no inconvenience to passengers and all operations continued normally at the airport during the scheduled mock drill exercise.”
