LUCKNOW: As an avid netizen five years ago, Imran Khan''s passion was surfing the net and chatting with his online buddies . Logged on to the wondrous world of worldwide web, one day he chanced upon the idea of a website offering legal advice on the net.
From being a net junkie, Imran today is a high court advocateand has been successfully running a site called www.lawadiv.com.

He claims that after five years of designing and maintaining this site ,it now has a countrywide presence and has been ranked among the top ten on the subject by some of the well-known search engines. Nearly 1100 visitors hit the site per month.
"The unique feature of the website is that for the first time the concept of e-munshi (clerk) and e-pairokaar (representative) has been introduced,"Imran said. Under e-munshi the filing of documents related to cases is done by uploading the scanned documents for correction and filing. E-pairokar is a legal service wherein a person sitting in any corner of the country can ask for legal services like inspecting records, bringing in certified copies etc on person''s behalf,Imran added.
He said,"The main attraction of the service is ''My-Adiv'' . A ticket number will be given to all those who register (registration is free) and any legal query raised or legal aid sought will be forwarded to registered legal professionals."
The user can track the progress of the case online by checking the information available under his registration ticket number,he added.
"In one instance a chartered accountant in Mumbai had a case registered against him in Chandigarh- a city he was compltely unfamiliar with for seeking legal aid.
He logged onto our site and we put him through to lawyers in Chandigarh thereby saving him the trouble of having to rush down to the city," Imran said.
Lawyers'' directory, advisory search and discussion forums on the net allow for using search engine to locate legal counsel and anything related to the legal communities as well as views and opinions on a host of law related topics. Imran, however, agreed that there are very few people to man the site and keep it constantly updated as it is not a paid entry site yet.
