A notorious shooter, Anshu Dikshit, escaped from police custody on Thursday noon. Dikshit was an accused in CMO VK Arya murder case but was later given clean chit.

LUCKNOW: A notorious shooter, Anshu Dikshit, escaped from police custody on Thursday noon. Dikshit was an accused in CMO VK Arya murder case but was later given clean chit. He, however, has been facing trial in multiple cases including Lucknow university student leader Vinod Tripathi and Gaurav Singh double murder case that took place at Nehru Enclave in Gomtinagar in 2007.

Lodged in Lucknow prison, Dikshit was produced before Sitapur court on Thursday noon. Police said Dikshit’s aides laced some eatables with drugs and distributed it to the cops escorting him.
He then reportedly opened fire at the cops and fled from the scene from the railway station. Action will be taken against the two constables on duty. Police said efforts to nab him were under way.
Natives of Sitapur, Dikshit and his brother had been named as accused in multiple cases in Lucknow and Sitapur. He had gone to appear before a court in a case of loot.
