LUCKNOW: More than 50,000 residents are grappling with water crisis for the past four days in Ismailganj ward-I. The ward affected comprises more than a dozen localities including Insafnagar, Ehsaannagar, Patelnagar, Vaishali Enclave, Dayal Enclave, Lohiya Vihar, Eeshwar Puri, Navneet Vihar, Nandini Vihar and Bhagwatipuram.
Residents complain water supply has stopped completely due to defunct tube-wells and damaged valves in the water tanks.

Kailash, a resident said, “The main reason for water shortage is defunct tube-wells -- 30 and 32 of sector-12 -- and tube-well 36 in sector 9. The problem is further aggravated by the damaged valve of sector 9 overhead water tank.”
Corporator Mukesh Chouhan said it is difficult for people to manage without water, especially during festival time. He warned if Jal Sansthan doesn’t fix the problem on priority, people would be forced to stage a protest.
