MODINAGAR: Anti-dowry campaigner Nisha, married computer hardware engineer, Ashwini Sharma, at a simple ceremony on Wednesday.
About 15 guests were present from Nisha''s side, whereas there were about 50 from the groom''s side. Only puris and one vegetable was served to wedding guests, apart from ‘laddoos'' as desert.
Nisha''s father, DD Sharma, said, ‘‘No dowry has been given or asked for, in this wedding.

All I have given are some sarees and personal effects, for Nisha. What is not asked for is not dowry.''''
Nisha herself said she was overjoyed about the wedding with Ashwini, a Modinagar resident. ‘‘He knew every detail of the circumstances in which I sent the dowry seekers to jail, in May. But, he says, that has only increased his love and respect for me. I can only call on every Indian girl to refuse to give dowry. My experience has strengthened my belief.''''
Ashwini, in his turn, said he was proud of Nisha. ‘‘She has her principles, but is not domineering.''''
Although Nisha was to be married on Wednesday night, the time was suddenly advanced to the morning, ‘‘to avoid excessive media glare,'''' said her father.
