LUCKNOW: In yet another blow to the image of
UP bureaucracy
, a number of IAS officers of 1987 and 1988 batches were
denied empanelment
as additional secretary in the government of India, following the new
360 degree appraisal.
This will result in poor presence of
UP cadre officers
at the top level, particularly secretary and additional secretary levels at the Centre, while at present UP IAS officers are at key posts --from PMO to ministries.
Centre's department of personnel and training (DoPT) issued the list of IAS officers, declaring Jiwesh and Leena Nandan, Sunil and Renuka Kumar -both husband and wife --empanelled as additional secretary from the 1987 batch while Alok Kumar, Arvind Kumar, and S Radha Chauhan got elevated.
Those denied empanelment include Mahesh Chand Gupta, Arun Singhal and Avneesh Awasthi from the 1987 batch while those denied empanelment from the 1988 batch include, among a dozen,
Rajneesh Dubey , Rajan Shukla, Rama Raman, Manoj Kumar Singh.
About a month back, DoPT had conducted 360 degree appraisal of IAS officers of these batches and only two officers could get secretary rank, while majority of them were denied empanelment.
