LUCKNOW: Post tremors, Nepal is flooded with external helps. But, the devastated country, it seems, is not getting the real help it needs. In a telephonic interaction with Lucknow media, Nepal’s general administration minister Lal Babu Pandit consistently appealed that the country was in dire need of tarpaulin, as the first priority.
With no homes overhead, and the rainy season coming in a month's time, the minister, stressed for the supply of tarpaulin.

This he said should be followed by raw ration, including pulses and rice, over any of the fast food products being sent to them.
With help pouring in for Nepal, the government is focusing more on the rescue and rehabilitation work after the earthquake jolts since April 25 and as recent as May 12. “What we need today is shelter. People are living on roads, and need a covering over them, especially as rainy season is going to start. Tarpaulin is our priority today,” said Pandit. Adding to his appeal, he also said, “people are sending relief items like chow chow and biscuits, but we need non-perishable items pulses and rice, over the items being sent.”
In the telephonic communication that was facilitated by Umeed, the minister said that the situation on ground was “tense, and the earthquake situation with all its vibration is still on.” With unimaginable levels of loss that has been incurred, Pandit said that the Nepali government has appealed to representatives of all countries who have come out for help, to support in the collection of the national rehabilitation fund of Rs 200 billion, within the next six months.

He said the Nepal still needed a lot, but is not getting the right help. “The state governments from India, are really doing their bit, but there is a gap between what the demand is and what is being supplied, and we all need to really work on that for better progress,” said Pandit.
Talking about the Indian media, Pandit said that the media was initially not able to focus on issues and situations, that needed focus. It had lost its way, he said, but was more sensitive towards the people and the condition now.
