LUCKNOW: In an apparent bid to make inroads among urban elite, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has fielded educated and qualified professionals as its candidates for eight assembly constituencies which come under Lucknow district. Influence of party general secretary Satish Chand Mishra, who is also a leading advocate, was clearly visible in the distribution of tickets for the state capital as the list contained names of four advocates. Out of eight BSP candidates, five would be contesting assembly elections for the first time. Former president of Indian Medical Association, Lucknow unit, Dr Neeraj Bora will ride the elephant from Lucknow west. Four advocates given tickets are Nakul Dubey from Mahona, Gopal Narain Mishra from Lucknow East, Nagendra Srivastava from Lucknow Central and Arvind Kumar Tripathi from Lucknow Cantonment.
Mewalal Kannaujia has been given ticket from Malihabad reserved constituency. While sitting MLA Mohammed Irshad would again field from Sarojininagar, Poornima Verma, who came to BSP from BJP, will fight from Mohanlalganj.
