Nandu sold for Rs 2 lakh

Nandu, the poster goat who had been on the hoardings for carrying the engraving of Prophet Mohammed on its coat, has been sold to a customer from Mumbai for Rs 2 lakh. Nandu’s owner Sudheer Rawat had initially kept its price at Rs 5 lakh.

LUCKNOW: Nandu, the poster goat who had been on the hoardings for carrying the engraving of Prophet Mohammed on its coat, has been sold to a customer from Mumbai for Rs 2 lakh. Nandu’s owner Sudheer Rawat had initially kept its price at Rs 5 lakh.
Rawat said: “There were many buyers for this goat at Bakra mandi (goat market) at Old City, but the deal was fixed with a Mumbai customer who was determined to own it.”
Sellers from every nook and corner of the state flocked to the capital and earned huge profits. The dark and rebellious goat named after Shah Rukh Khan was sold for Rs 11,000 earning its owner a handsome profit.
The mandi remained active till late night. Ten-year-old Junaid Siddiqui, resident of Nishatganj, said, “I bought the strongest and healthiest goat among all so I can boast about it among my friends.”
Contractor Muhammad Aslam Raini said, “Compared to last year when goats fetched at the most Rs 70,000, this time they have sold for lakhs of rupees. Sheep this time sold for a maximum of Rs. 16,000.
