Mulayam dumps Maya's men

LUCKNOW: After selecting his own team of officers at the fifth floor, the chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav dumps Mayawati''s men into her own `dumping ground''.
Maya''s `magnificent seven'', who were shunted by the new chief minister on Thursday, were given new assignments today. Once calling the shots in her secretariat at the Fifth floor, majority of these officers, expectedly, were given insignificant postings.

Neeraj Kumar Gupta has been has been shunted to a another punishment post in Religious Endowment department as secretary while Ahsok Kumar goes as secretary civil defence. Among Maya''s men, only Kunwar Fateh Bahadur seems to have managed to salvage his position. He goes as secretary Planning.
Significantly, the chief minister has cancelled the posting of senior IAS officer Chandra Pal, who faced the wrath of Mayawati during her 15-month-long tenure. Chadra Pal, who had gone on long medical leave, was made to languish in Allahabad as judicial member, Revenue Board. A suitable post is being indentified for his new posting.
DN Lal who was awaiting his posting would go as special secretary, National Integration while MK Shanmuga Sundaram has been posted as special secretary in the APC branch. The former APC SN Jha, who was also shunted on Thursday, has also been dumped into Revenue Board as jucdicial member in Lucknow.
Arun Singhal who was awaiting new posting would go as director swajal in place of Arun Arya who has gone on training. Principal Secretary, Rural development Rita Sharma has been given additional charge of looking after rural drinking.
