MoU signed to improve UP’s forensics skills

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS) in Lucknow and the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) in Hyderabad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance forensic science expertise in Uttar Pradesh and facilitate faster and more accurate crime investigations.Additional director general of police and director of UPSIFS, GK Goswami, said that this MoU builds upon the first agreement signed in 2017, further strengthening academic exchanges, research collaborations, and professional training opportunities for both institutions. “Joint workshops, seminars, and faculty exchange programs will be conducted to share knowledge and expertise,” he said. “Collaborative research on various social and judicial topics will be undertaken, contributing to advancements in the field. Students and investigators will gain access to CDFD’s expertise in DNA profiling, aiding in crucial investigations.”Additionally, joint training programs will aim to develop skilled professionals in forensic science to meet national needs. Director of CDFD, Sangeeta Mukhopadhyay, was also present during the signing of the MoU.
