MoU inked for setting up waste to energy plants in Kanpur

The state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for setting up waste to energy plants and renewable energy projects. The first such project is proposed to be launched in Kanpur.

LUCKNOW: The state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for setting up waste to energy plants and renewable energy projects. The first such project is proposed to be launched in Kanpur.
The MoU was signed by additional chief secretary Rajneesh Dubey and SECI executive director Sanjay Sharma.

According to the agreement, the SECI will help the state government in the bidding process in a transparent manner.
The SECI will also sign a power purchase agreement with the UP Power Corporation Limited for implementation of waste to energy projects. Under this, the developer will be chosen by the SECI. At the same time, the developer will be provided land at the rate of Re 1 per square-metre.
