kanpur : invirtro- fertilisation (ivf) has come as a ray of hope for the tubercular infertile couples who have been so far deprived of a child .it has been found that about 40 per cent women in kanpur city suffer with genital tuberculosis which cause infertility. first time in history of kanpur, four women of city who had genital tuberculosis gave birth to four test tube babies at madhuraj hospital .
dr madhu lumba, a senior gynaecologist said that she had screened about 3,000 women during last five years and found that 40 per cent of them had genital tuberculosis . dr lumba said that women suffering from genital tuberculosis with a long history of infertility with block tubes have good chances of conception with the procedure of ivf after surgical correction and medical treatment of the diseases . madhuraj advanced infertility and ivf centre which was established a year ago, has delivered many children both male and female , singleton and twins . dr lumba said the success rate of ivf was 20 per cent which is comparable to the best ivf centres of the world .dr lumba said that about 30 per cent male suffer from infertility due to low sperm count, low motility of sperm and also because of testicular imbalance and hormonal imbalance .besides,30 per cent women suffer from infertility due to irregular ovulation, hormonal imbalance and tubal block.
