Mob ransacks theatre

lucknow: in a sort of re-run of what happened six years ago at shubham theatre, hundreds of sonkar samaj members went on a rampage and damaged the cinema hall after two of them suffered injuries when they were attacked with a khukri, allegedly by the manager and staff of the theatre . the incident took place minutes before the evening show was over.as a result of the tension, the night show was cancelled. the protests ended only after the manager was arrested. six years ago raj babu sonkar was shot by the then manager of the theatre k n singh. amit sonkar, a local resident, told tnn that on sunday evening ashish and his friends ritesh and ajay were watching the film. in the meantime others went to buy tickets for the night show. when theatre management refused to give them tickets, a heated argument followed. manager major shahi admitted that he slapped ashish. however, the associates of ashish said that he was dragged into a room by the theatre staff and attacked with knife. ashish suffered sharp-edged injuries on his hand. the police and pac reached the spot and whisked away shahi.
