Lucknow: Third edition of Metaphor Reading Circle, held at Avadh Girls Degree College, brought together thinkers and students to explore the theme ‘Understanding feminism through my eyes', on Saturday. The event fostered reflection on feminism from diverse perspectives, with speakers sharing insights and experiences.
Professor Emeritus, Lucknow University, Prof Nishi Pandey, said "True empowerment lies in making your own choices. At the end of the day, a woman will have to decide: will I fight it, or will I give up."
Lucknow University faculty Prof Rakesh Chandra, said, "Feminism is an act of challenge. Capitalism and technology have reduced spaces for dissent. Young minds should engage with writers like Tagore, Mahadevi Verma and Pratibha Ray to understand resistance and agency." Educationist entrepreneur Surabhi Modi Sahai, said, "Male authority goes unquestioned. Our generation must confront crony capitalism and challenge structural inequalities that continue to limit women." Advocate, Aishvarya Mathur, said, "Equality alone is insufficient since one class has always been subdued. Understanding their struggles requires attention to social structures that shape lives." Eram Group of Institutes director, Khwaja Saifi Yunus, said, "Feminism is extension of humanism. Men should not feel threatened by women's empowerment, as it strengthens society as a whole."
