Union minister Kaushal Kishore who lost son to alcohol abuse on anti-addiction mission

NEW DELHI: Newly inducted Union minister

Kaushal Kishore

is on a mission to “protect” youngsters and all those who don’t consume alcohol or are addicted to any drugs. The second time BJP MP lost his 28-year-old son

Akash Kishore

in October last year to alcohol abuse.

Kaushal

said even after several efforts to cure his son of the habit, he failed.

“Despite myself being an MP and my wife an MLA, we could not save him. While poison kills instantly, any such addiction like alcohol and substance abuse kills slowly. We need to protect those who have not yet become addict to liquor or other substances,” the minister said while appealing all teachers to make students aware about the ill effects of such addiction.

On being asked why he was not seeking complete ban on sale of liquor and other substances, Kishore said the solution lies in ensuring that there is no demand. “We have to create fear in the mind of people that consuming such things will cost our lives,” he said.
