LUCKNOW: UP governor Anandiben Patel on Monday lauded meteorologists for their service to the country.
After inaugurating the new building of the state Met headquarters at Amausi, she said that natural calamities cannot be stopped, but timely and accurate forecasts by the met scientists helps in minimising their impact.
Giving an example of Gujarat where she served as chief minister, Patel said that the state faced the challenges posed by cyclones, heat waves, droughts and floods with the help of forecasts made by met scientists.
“Met science helps people directly in their daily life. Today, there is no country in the world which is not affected by climate change. The natural calamities not only have an adverse impact on the economics of the country, but also threaten lives and livelihood of the people,” she added.
Earlier, UP state met department director JP Gupta welcomed the guests.
