MDS student autopsy confirms suicide

Lucknow: Autopsy of the first year masters in dental surgery student's body revealed she had committed suicide by suspending herself from the ceiling fan, said police. The reason that triggered the extreme step was not clear. The elder brother of Prerna Chowdhary (29) took the body to Allahabad for last rites after postmortem on Tuesday.
On Monday evening, the body of Prerna, a student of Sardar Patel Dental Institute, was found hanging from the ceiling fan and the institute authorities informed PGI police station about the incident.
Officer in charge sub-inspector Vinod Yadav said it was not clear what prompted Prerna to take the extreme step. Police recovered books, diary and other belongings from the girls' hostel in which Prerna resided. Her mobile phone too failed to throw up leads in the case.
An advocate at Allahabad high court, Prerna's brother Sanjeev arrived at the institute late on Monday and finished all paper work. He did not suspect any foul play in the matter, added Yadav.
