LUCKNOW: A day after she ordered setting up of a
sector-wise committees
to expand BSP's base among voters, party chief
Mayawati on Sunday directed constituting district and town area committees afresh.
The move is viewed as BSP's micromanagement to take on the BJP in the upcoming bypolls on 13 seats and UP elections due in 2022. On Sunday, the district and town committees of Lucknow were formed. While the district committee will be headed by Hari Krishna Gautam, a
Dalit
, the town area committee will be presided over by Nakul Dubey, a Brahmin. Dubey had unsuccessfully contested the 2019
Lok Sabha
elections from Sitapur.
The BSP boss has also asked the district and town area presidents to incorporate Muslims in their committees.
This comes after she appointed party RS MP Munquad Ali as the state president of the party. In case of Lucknow, Mohammad Yusuf has been appointed as district vice-president, while Salahuddin Siddiqui has been named as vice-president of the town area committee. BSP sources said the party plans to reach out to different communitiesby giving them place in various committees.
