LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP Vice-President Mayawati on Sunday effected a major reshuffle in the state executive committee of the party removing several office bearers holding important portfolios in the government.
Announcing the names of the new members of the committee, Mayawati said the reshuffle was done to enable the ministers to discharge their responsibilities in a better way.
Dr K K Sachan has been made the new president of the state BSP committee while the party legislator Mohammad Irshad Khan would be its general secretary, she told newspersons here.
The chief minister also directed the committee to form organisations of the party at the grass-root level and asked the party workers not to indulge in any activity, which might create fissures in the coalition and weaken the government.
Ruling out immediate expansion of her ministry, she said the expansion would take place only after the process of reshuffling in the BSP and BJP party organisations was over.
