Mayawati, Akash Anand among 40 star campaigners of BSP in UP

Lucknow: BSP national president Mayawati and party's national coordinator, Akash Anand will be among the 40 star campaigners of the party for Lok Sabha elections in UP. Party national general secretary SC Mishra and state president Vishwanath Pal will also be the star campaigners for all the seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The polling for the first phase of elections will be held on April 19 and second phase on April 26. While Mayawati's poll campaign in the state might start on April 13, that of Akash Anand will start on April 6. Mayawati may start her campaign from Bijnor.

Mayawati had declared Akash Anand her political successor in December, in an all-India meeting of the party.

This will be the first election that Akash Anand will face after being anointed the political successor of Mayawati. The party has chalked out a detailed itinerary for its campaign in the state covering Gautambudhnagar, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Mathura, Agra, Aligarh, Hathras and Saharanpur Lok Sabha seats in west UP.

April 24 onward, he will tour east UP and address election meetings in Basti, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Varanasi and Ambedkarnagar. In a whirlwind tour of the state, Anand's meetings have also been planned in Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Ayodhya, Devipatan, Jhansi, Chitrakoot and Kanpur divisions. In Lucknow, he will address meetings in Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi, Lucknow, Mohanlalganj, Raebareli and Unnao.

Apart from the top leadership of the party, coordinators will also campaign for the candidates in different phases of elections. For every phase, the party will have 40 star campaigners.
