Manto’s play depicts plight of sex worker
Lucknow: The play ‘Hatak’ staged at UP Sangeet Natak Akademi on Wednesday depicted how after being insulted by a customer, a sex worker realised that every man in her life only gave her a heartbreak. And, this makes her break up with her lover for her self-esteem.Adapted from a short story of the same name written by Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto, the 75-minute play was directed by KK Agrawal.The plot of `Hatak’, which means insult, revolves around a kind-hearted sex worker, Saugandhi, played by Seema Modi, who is in search of a true love. The performances by the actors kept audiences hooked to the play till the end.
