Lucknow: A Mumbai man was apprehended at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) for possessing an automatic rifle bullet in his luggage.
Police said that Sanjay Ram Bachan Kalwar, a resident of Khar West, Mumbai, who was returning to Mumbai after taking a holy dip in the Sangam, was charged under the Arms Act, presented before a magistrate on Wednesday, and remanded to custody.
"Since there was no available flight from Prayagraj airport to Mumbai, the accused rented a taxi to Lucknow after taking a dip in the Sangam. During the screening of his luggage, an on-duty airport security officer discovered a 7.62 mm rifle bullet. When he failed to provide documentation verifying the bullet's legality, he was escorted to the police station," said SHO Sarojininagar, RD Prajapati.
