Lucknow: Panic briefly gripped the UP Police headquarters on Wednesday after a man allegedly consumed pesticide after submitting a grievance application.
Police said the man has been identified as Ram Kishor (45), son of Suresh Chandra, a resident of Piparkheda in Shuklaganj under Gangaghat police station limits in Unnao. He had arrived at the police headquarters in Lucknow to submit a complaint at the office of the inspector general (provisioning & governance) under the public grievance system.
Officials said that soon after handing over his application, Ram Kishor suddenly consumed a pesticide substance, while coming out of the premises, triggering panic among police personnel present there.
He was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences with the help of a Dial 108 ambulance service. Doctors attending to him said his condition is currently stable.
Police are now looking into the circumstances that led the man to take the extreme step, including the nature of his complaint.
On the other hand, SHO, Gangaghat, in Unnao, Ajay Kumar Singh told TOI that Ram Kishor suffers from some mental disorder and is under treatment. “He has been giving frivolous complaints in different forums from last year. No such issue is there of him or his family,” he said.
