LUCKNOW: Six members of a single family were found dead in Palhapur village of the Rampur Mathura Thana area in the Sitapur district on Saturday.
Police said that Anurag Thakur (42), a resident of the village, first shot his mother, Savitri (65), then his wife, Priyanka (40), daughters Ashwini (12) and Ashvi (10), and son Advait (6) before shooting himself.
The superintendent of police in Sitapur, Chakresh Mishra, said that Anurag, who was allegedly addicted to drugs, had a dispute with his family members over being taken to a de-addiction center.
The incident occurred in the early hours following the altercation. All six individuals were declared dead at the scene, and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Mishra stated that the perpetrator was believed to be mentally disturbed. After fatally shooting his family members, he took his own life. A forensic team is collecting evidence at the scene, while the police continue their investigation into the matter. A heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
