LUCKNOW: Ajeya Singh, the banker son of former prime minister V P Singh, blamed Samajwadi Party for the vandalism that took place at his multiplex in Allahabad on August 24. However, he refrained from naming anybody.
At a press conference here on Friday, Ajeya said he was in New Delhi and came to know about the attack on his Atlantis Multiplex Limited mall through media reports.

When asked who he thought was responsible for the attack, Ajeya said he expected the media to tell him. He, however, said, "The attackers were carrying the SP flag and also burnt an effigy. Though earlier I did not think so, now I feel that the attack was politically motivated."
He said an FIR had been lodged, but nobody was named.
On the justification of the attack by senior SP leader Janeshwar Mishra, he said, "How can anybody justify vandalism. How can you defend this kind of hooliganism?"
"There's a complete state of anarchy here. To have differences is fine, but you can't go and pelt stones at anybody."
Earlier on Friday Mishra told TOI that "the mall has been constructed after displacing several families and is encouraging 'videshi' (foreign) culture in the city. History reveals that city's foundations are based on Mahatma Gandhi's Swadeshi concept.

SP workers are true patriots as they have tried to dissuade attack on our culture."
Giving details of the mall, Ajeya said he had bought the 4,000 sq m land through an open auction conducted by the Allahabad Development Authority (ADA) on September 1 2002.
Denying allegations that the project was funded by his father, he said, "I paid Rs 4 crore for the land." Ajeya also denied allegations of violating norms and he said the mall was "passed by ADA during the SP regime".
