LUCKNOW: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has deployed three automatic weather stations (AWS) to deliver accurate weather forecasts during Maha Kumbh, which would witness a colossal human gathering over a six-week period.
These advanced meteorological installations will ensure detailed atmospheric observations and comprehensive weather monitoring throughout the sacred gathering.

Maha Kumbh Mela 2025IMD completed the installation and testing procedures of the AWS on Monday, making them fully operational.
"The three newly installed AWS in Maha Kumbh district will give precise updates regularly of temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall, fog at every 50 minutes," stated IMD Uttar Pradesh director Manish Ranalkar
Currently, Prayagraj district operates with 10 AWS and 49 automatic rain gauge stations (ARG), which work alongside radar and satellite systems to provide weather updates for the region.
The IMD plans to unveil a dedicated website for Maha Kumbh on Jan 2, whilst presently sharing all weather information through their official website.
