LUCKNOW: A case of abetment to suicide was registered against a man after his wife ended her life in their house in Narhi. Police also named the deceased woman’s in-laws as accused in the case.
Parents of the woman, identified as Shweta (30), apprehended foulplay and alleged that her in-laws had killed her. They also contested the suicide note.
ACP, Hazratganj, Raghvendra Mishra said Shweta of Gorakhpur was married to
Vivek Chauhan of Ram Krishna Lane in Narhi locality in 2020.
Her father Sitaram said that Vivek informed him around 3.30am on August 16 that Shweta had hanged herself. “He informed me that he was taking Shweta to Civil Hospital. Fifteen minutes later, he told me that doctors have pronounced her dead,” Sitaram said. “My wife Asha told me that Vivek had an extra-marital affair and Shweta was upset over this. She informed me that Shweta was being tortured for opposing her husband’s affair,” he added.
“The suicide note has not been written by Shweta. It is not in her handwriting. She was a brave girl,” he said.
