LUCKNOW: A woman killed her husband for opposing her to work as a safai worker at a hospital and staged her death as suicide in Gautampalli police station area.
An autopsy on the body exposed her lies and the police arrested her on Wednesday. She confessed to her crime before the police. In view of evidence against her and her confession, the police booked her for murder.
She was arrested on the complaint of the deceased's father Pradeep Kumar.
The woman accused was identified as
Sarita of Mall Avenue in Gautampalli.
According to the police, in the night on June 24, Sarita called the police informing that her husband had committed suicide at their rented house in Jiamau locality in Gautampalli. A police team reached the scene and found
Rahul dead.
"While Sarita through her affectation tries to show that she was bereaved at the death of her husband who had committed suicide on minor issue, her in-laws were not convinced and demanded autopsy of the body to find the reason behind the suicide," said Akhilesh Singh, Assistant Commissioner of police, Hazratganj.
"The autopsy report revealed that Rahul was choked to death and an impression of fingers was found around the throat of the victim. We decided to quiz Sarita, but she went into hiding. We arrested her from near Lalbatti crossing on Wednesday," said Singh.
Singh further said Sarita worked as a safai worker at SPM Civil hospital and Rahul was against her decision to work there. "Sarita had a second marriage with Rahul and he was very possessive of her.
This led to a serious difference between the couple and they used to have a verbal spat off and on. On the fateful day, Sarita choked Rahul to death and staged the incident a case of suicide," Singh added.
