Cultural diversity marks convocation week of LU
Lucknow: To mark the ongoing Convocation Week, Lucknow University celebrated cultural diversity and artistic talent by hosting an event in Malviya Hall on Wednesday. The programme began with Saraswati Vandana by Rahul Chaudhary (singer), Soham Mishra (tabla) and Shravan Yadav (harmonium). Later, Gulshan Pandey captivated the audience with a heartfelt rendition of a Sanskrit geet.The international flair of the event was highlighted by K Hwakn San, a student from Myanmar, who mesmerized audience with the traditional Burmese dance form. The students from Bangladesh brought diversity to the stage with a fusion performance of folk song and dance, titled 'Jari.'Adding a regional touch, Hitesh Tyagi played the guitar, while Aditi Singh sang a Himachali song, 'Maaye ni Meriye'. The event took a scholarly turn with Sachchidanand Singh, a final-year BTech student, replicating Swami Vivekananda's iconic Chicago address marking its 131st anniversary.One of the standout moments of the evening was a Kathak performance by Priyam Yadav, a first-year student with nine years of experience in the classical dance form. The event concluded with a soulful solo by Kartikeya Rastogi, who performed 'Piya Ghar Awenge,' a traditional Lok Geet, leaving the audience spellbound. The event was graced by Mandavi Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, as the chief guest. Manuka Khanna, Pro Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University, was the guest of honour. The convocation week witnessed several engaging activities, including mehendi and rangoli competitions and writing contests. The sports segment saw 137 students from various departments participating in kho kho and volleyball matches.Meanwhile, the College of Arts Photographic Society successfully hosted a one-day studio light workshop to celebrate the convocation week. Participants had the opportunity to learn from experts and practice various lighting setups, enhancing their technical skills. The workshop attracted a diverse group of students keen on mastering the art of studio photography.
