The Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Friday cancelled the contracts of as many as five advertisers engaged in beautification and maintenance of seven crossings in the state capital.

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Friday cancelled the contracts of as many as five advertisers engaged in beautification and maintenance of seven crossings in the state capital. The advertisers who face the notice from municipal commissioner, NP Singh included Admax, Shanti, Sigma, Universal and Rudra.
Singh said that in most of the cases, advertisers had not followed the rules before putting up hoardings.

While some did not obtain no objection certificate from the national highway section of the public works department, others did not develop the crossings at all. "They only put up hoardings, which was objectionable," he said.
The crossings which came under scanner include Burlington crossing, Sikandarabad crossing, Badshahnagar crossing, Lohia Park, HAL trisection, Patrakarpuram, Purania, Daliganj crossings, Munshipulia crossing and CMS Gomtinagar. LMC had been receiving complaints from the PWD about the advertisers not taking requisite permissions from the PWD before putting up hoardings.tnn
He said that advertisers are not allowed to put up hoardings on national highways. Singh appealed that places like Hazratganj should be avoided while hoardings are installed.
