Lucknow: Man found dead, kin say landlord killed him

LUCKNOW: A 26-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Thakurganj area on Sunday.
Though the exact cause behind the death was not ascertained, family of the deceased identified as Vakeel Ahmad alleged that he was thrashed by his landlord for not paying rent on time and he succumbed to the injuries. Vakeel, a daily wager, lived with his wife in a rented accommodation in Thakurganj.
His brother Mohammad Ahmad lodged a complaint with police alleging that landlord Rafi Ahmad and his aide Shahbu thrashed his brother on October 8, when he sought more time to pay the rent. The injuries led to his death.
Thakurganj police station SHO Vijay Kumar Yadav said an FIR was registered against Rafi on October 8 based on a complaint lodged by Vakeel, However, Vakeel’s medical examination report up then stated that there were no grievous injuries, he added. “However, the body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause behind the death,” the cop added.
