LUCKNOW: The former governor of Uttar Pradesh was booked along with seven others for carrying out a candle march in solidarity with anti-CAA protesters in Gomtinagar on Monday. They were booked for violation of section 144 of the CrPC.

was arrested along with Jaleel, Mahfooz, Salmaan Mansuri, Mohammed Wali, Rehnuma Khan, Priyanka Mishra and Sunil Lodhi.
Assistant commissioner of police Gomtinagar Santosh Singh said that around 40 persons, along with those named above, were taking out a candle march with placards against the new citizenship law from Digdiga crossing to Fun Republic Mall.
"When they were intercepted by a police team and asked to show permission for the march, they were unable to do so," said the officer.
As a result, they were charged with unlawful assembly and disobedience to order promulgated by a public servant. Meanwhile, women continued to lead the protest against the new citizenship law at Clock Tower in Husainabad. The agitation entered its 18th day on Monday.
