Lucknow Darshan for 30 cancer patients

Lucknow: UP tourism organised a special ‘Lucknow Darshan' bus tour for 30 cancer patients on Tuesday.The initiative, conducted through the UPSTDC's double-decker electric Lucknow Darshan bus on the eve of World Cancer Awareness Day, was scheduled as a special afternoon service in addition to regular sightseeing trips.
Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said the initiative reflected the govt's belief that tourism can play a meaningful social role. "The effort was meant to give patients a moment of joy and emotional strength by taking them beyond hospital walls," he said. Several participants described the outing as a rare chance to reconnect with life outside treatment schedules. A patient, Rajni Verma said visiting Vidhan Sabha from inside was a memorable experience. "We usually only see such places on television. Being there in person gave me hope and happiness," she said."Patients were smiling and interacting with guide, and enjoying the attention when people stopped to photograph the bus. These moments are emotionally therapeutic," said Dr Abhishek. ACS (tourism) Amrit Abhijat said the service was a platform for responsible tourism and social outreach. He said similar initiatives would be expanded in the future to make tourism more accessible and impactful.
