LU gets approval for 32 research projects
Lucknow: Lucknow University has received approval for 32 research projects from the Uttar Pradesh higher education department. Under the centre of excellence(COE) scheme, the university secured approval in 19 projects, the highest among seven state universities with a total grant of Rs 2.47 crore. Out of the total, 13 fall under the Research and Development (R&D) category. Among the key projects, Madhu Kamble from the biochemistry department has received around Rs 9.8 lakh for research on pest management in stored grains. In Zoology, Paramjeet Singh and Tripti Yadav have been granted Rs 4 lakh each for studies on anti-cancer compounds and eco-friendly pest control. In Chemistry, Sushil Kumar Maurya has received Rs 3 lakh, while Vijay Kumar Rai has been awarded Rs 7 lakh. Research in botany and environmental science will focus on heavy metals, air pollution and water quality including studies related to the Ganga. Ajay Singh has been sanctioned Rs 10.5 lakh to study the use of selenium nanoparticles in reducing heavy metal impact on cropsVice-chancellor JP Saini said, "The Centre of Excellence initiative will not only enhance research quality but also improve the university's national ranking."
