LU celebrates Hindu New Year with musical event

Lucknow: Lucknow University's cultural unit Sanskritiki organised an event on the occasion of Hindu New Year and Chaitra Navratri on the campus on Wednesday. The programme began with traditional lighting of lamp followed by discussions and artistic performances. Main attractions were dance performance on Ardhanarishwara and a theatrical performance on Ahilyabai Holkar. A series of dance performances dedicated to Goddess Durga included Aigiri Nandini by Anjali Dwivedi, Maa Bhavani by Ananya Singh and Vanshika Srivastava, Mahakali by Suhani, Aayi Jagdambe by Rukmini Nishad and a fusion of contemporary Durga songs by Sneha Sahu and Aakriti Tiwari. The academic session featured a discussion on The Spectrum of Shakti included speakers Ayushi Dwivedi, Devesh Pandey, Anubhav, Vaishnavi, Akshara, Pragya and Omisha Dwivedi.Achyut mesmerised the audience with tabla performance and Swarnim Singh played Raag Durga on the flute. University VC Alok Kumar Rai, Pro VC Manuka Khanna and Sanskritiki Director Anchal Srivastava were present.
