Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Many brave the Sun but find no ray of hope in voters' list

Voter slips not received and names missing from the voter list at some polling booths across the city gave a tough time to voters on Monday.

Despite braving the heat and searching for their name in the list for hours, some voters went back home disappointed.

"I had voted in the last Lok sabha polls, but this time I didn't receive a voter slip at my residence. When I reached my polling booth at Shia PG college, people there asked me to search for my name in the list but even there my name was missing," said Rafat Ali.

"I am suffering from fever, but even then, I reached the booth to vote. Since I didn't receive the voter slip, I requested the help desk at the booth, but instead of helping me they gave me a hard copy of the voter list and asked me to find my name in it. My name went missing even in the list they had," said Mohd Usman, who reached Khunkhunji PG College to cast his vote. Abhishek Mishra, whose name was missing in the voter list at Shia PG College, said, "I am not the only one, several people in my colony did not receive their voter slips. Some were fortunate to find their voting slips online and could cast their votes, but several others didn't get slips even through the Election Commission of India website."

Similar views were shared by Ghanshyam Sharma, whose name went missing at Hanuman Prasad College, Yahiyaganj and Kalpana Tiwari whose voter slip was missing at Formative Day high school, Rabindrapalli.
