Lok Sabha Elections 2024: First timers get inked, post selfies

Despite scorching heat, a visibly excited first-time voters made a beeline on polling booths across the city to exercise their right to franchise and later were seen posing for selfies with inked fingers for their social media accounts.

Most of them said that they have voted for the candidate who they believe will work for the development of Lucknow and the country.

Priyanjali Kumari, who studies in Delhi, came back home specially to cast vote in the elections. "I am happy to exercise my right to franchise for the first time," said Kumari, who was accompanied by her brother Gaurav Kumar to the polling booth at Montessori School in Hussainganj.

Rishi Mishra, who came to vote at the polling booth in City Convent School, Balaganj, said, "It is a wonderful experience to be a part of the festival of democracy."

Anjali Tiwari, who voted at the booth in JK Convent School, Sarojininagar, said, "I study in IIT BHU and came home to exercise my right to franchise."

Shivani Tripathi said that her first vote was to strengthen democracy in India.
