Law student commits suicide
Lucknow: A girl student pursuing law studies at a private university committed suicide in her room on the 3rd floor of the girls' hostel on Friday. Police claimed that she had been talking to someone on the phone before taking the drastic step.Her body was found hanging from a noose, and the police team seized a mobile phone and a register from the room before sealing the crime scene. They sent the body for a post-mortem and informed her family. A one-page note was also recovered, stating, "Sorry mummy, sorry papa," without blaming anyone for her decision, the police said. According to the information, the girl, 20, a native of Mathura, was studying BA-LLB (II) at a private university. She lived in room number 308 in the fourth block of the hostel located on the campus. On Friday morning, chief warden Pragya Mishra filed a written complaint with the police and informed them about the incident. As per police reports, around 8:30 am on Friday, her roommate, Alisha Khan, knocked on the door but received no response. Later, assistant warden Deepti Mishra arrived with a guard, opened the door, and found the girl hanging from the ceiling fan in her room using a scarf. Assistant police commissioner Vibhuti Khand and the Chinhat police station in-charge reached the spot with the police team. A forensic team was called in to collect evidence. "It surfaced during the preliminary investigation that before committing suicide, she was talking to someone on the phone. There was an argument between them over something during the conversation. We have seized her phone," he said.According to police officials, further action will be taken after receiving the post-mortem report and examining the mobile phone.
