Law officer held for extortion, suspended
Atul Sharma, assistant review officer, who was arrested for demanding money from a senior PCS officer, has been suspended, said JP Singh, special secretary, law here on Friday.
Sharma, who was attached to the law department as assistant review officer, was arrested by Hazratganj police on Thursday for threatening and demanding money from senior PCS officer Akhilesh Kumar, posted as regional food controller, Jhansi.
According to a senior police official, Atul Sharma is a history sheeter who had been imprisoned for several months in the case of forgery of documents during Mayawati's regime in 2007.
