Lakhimpur violence case: Ashish Mishra denied bail, two more sent to police custody
Earlier in the day, a delegation of Congress leaders, including former party president Rahul Gandhi, met President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday and presented a memorandum of facts on the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. One more arrest in Lakhimpur violence case
Police on Tuesday arrested one more person in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and produced him in a court, which sent him to 14-day judicial custody. Senior prosecution officer SP Yadav said they have sought 14-day police custody of Shekhar Bharti and the hearing in this regard will take place on Wednesday. He was sent to 14-day judicial custody, the officer said. (PTI)

Rakesh Tikait announces agitation if Teni is not dismissed, arrested
Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait has said that the farmers would launch a major agitation if union minister of state for home affairs Ajay Mishra Teni, who is charged under 120B IPC, is not dismissed and arrested. "The minister and his son must be lodged in separate barracks in Agra - not in Lakhimpur jail - because they are guilty of murder, the minister must resign and be arrested," he said. (PTI)
Kickstarting his party's "mission 2022" with a "rath yatra", Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday hit out at the BJP, saying it has "crushed farmers" and on return to power in Uttar Pradesh would "crush the Constitution" as well. The former UP CM launched the "Samajwadi Vijay Rath Yatra" from UP's Kanpur and it will cover all 403 Assembly segments ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls in the state. Meanwhile, Shivpal Yadav, who is Akhilesh's uncle and heads the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party, also launched a "Samajik Parivartan Yatra" from Mathura. (PTI)

Jayant Chaudhary stopped at Bareilly airport
RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary was on Tuesday stopped briefly at the airport here and allowed to go to Lakhimpur Kheri for the “antim ardas” of the farmers killed in violence there only will his security personnel. He was told not to take his supporters to Lakhimpur Kheri. The RLD workers sat on a dharna outside the airport as soon as the news reached them and they tried to block the road but were pacified by police and officials. (PTI)

Ashish Mishra taken to crime branch office for interrogation
The Uttar Pradesh Police took MoS Home Ajay Mishra's son Ashish to the Crime Branch office here on Tuesday for interrogation in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, a day after a court sent him to three-day police custody, an official said. Chief judicial magistrate Chintaram on Monday had granted three-day police remand, with the condition that Ashish Mishra would not be harassed and his lawyer would remain present during interrogation. (PTI)

The Lakhimpur Kheri police have arrested Shekhar Bharti, the driver of Ankit Das, whose vehicle was in the convoy that mowed down nine persons, including four farmers on October 3. Police sources said that Shekhar Bharti, who was arrested on Tuesday morning, is presently being interrogated. (IANS)
