KK Singh booked under NSA
LUCKNOW: Police on Monday slapped National Security Act (NSA) on jailed and suspended assistant professor of King George Medical University (KGMU) Dr KK Singh.
The police stated in their report that Dr Singh had incited violence on the campus on January 12, that he has created a terror on the campus and expressed apprehension that he was a definite threat to law and order.

SSP, Lucknow, Ashutosh Pandey told TOI that the step was initiated after it was cross-checked and verified from different quarters that Dr Singh has been behind virtually all the unrest on KGMU campus for quite sometime now.
"The proposal to slap NSA on Dr Singh was initiated by the police which was approved by the district magistrate (DM) Lucknow RN Tripathi following which it was delivered to the Lucknow district jail authorities where Dr Singh is presently lodged," Ashutosh said.
Meanwhile chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, addressing a gathering during the foundation-stone laying ceremony of an emergency ward at the Balrampur Hospital, warned all those trying to disrupt peace on the KGMU campus. "Jo log gut baazi kar rahe hain ... voh merey nishane par hain.
Yahan baithe huey unke subh-chintakon, unhen meri taraf se samjha dein ... agar naubat aayee to hum sakht kadam uthane mein peechhe naheen rahenge" (Those who are indulging in groupism are my target. Their well-wishers sitting here please tell them to mend their ways. If necessary I won't hesitate taking harsh steps against them), Mulayam said, making the government's intentions clear.

Dr Singh was arrested on January 19 after chief minister Mulayam Singh decided to crush the then ongoing statewide strike by junior doctors with an iron hand following reports of deaths of patients at the medical collages owing to the shortage of doctors.
The doctors went on strike to protest against a clash between their fellow medicos and police recruits on a train in Moradabad.
