LUCKNOW: The joint team working on the Gomtinagar double-murder case came back with clues on Monday. The case is likely to be cracked in the coming few days as the team has been able to pin down the group responsible for the shootout on early January 29 at Vishal Khand.
A gangster from Jhunsi area of Allahabad, Ashish Mishra and son of a police constable Rohit Shukla from Sultanpur were gunned down by a group of assailants on early last Wednesday.
Sources said four to five persons planned the act and committed the crime. Internal dispute is likely to surface as likely motive in the crackdown.
The team followed clues gathered from the scene of crime and have managed to identify the culprits. "Efforts are on to nab them and bring them to Lucknow," said sources. The team had been conducting raids to get specific details about the four-wheeler and firearms used in the crime.
Mishra had duped some of his gang members and was living in Lucknow after having assumed a different identity. One of the assailants was known to him and contacted on the night of the incident.
